A STORY

A story!

A story of how I quenched
the thirst of a scorching sun
with freshly fetched ocean drench
dripping from
the spherical lip
of a transparent hold.

A story!

A story of how
forsaken the brutality
and falls of citizens
fade in the sight of their rulers.
A common man
uncommon before his people
for sake of negligence.

A story!
Oh, rulers...a story!

A story to quench the thirst
of your wickedness
and drain the hunger
of sorrow
which you crest
in the stomachs of your citizens,
deeply in the hearts of your youths.

A story!
Oh, citizens...your story!

A story to stand tall,
the Iroko heights, climb...
...one, two...rise!
the stiffy backs of stallions, saddle...
...kick, kick...run!
the shaky vees of canoes, paddle...
...row, row...flow!
A fight,
Yes, a fight,
until you command the times!

A story!
A story!!

This story, mine to tell.
..........................................
These blanks, yours to fill,
and your story, yours to tell!

Let's quench the thirst
of the scorching sun
hungered by sorrows
and drink from the coziness
of the bright warm weather of peace.

A New Nigeria!

  2. Pour me a river
    Serve me the ocean
    The thirst I hunger of
    No fluid can satisfy

    The bane of evil
    The choke of the sinister
    The love of one obsessed
    Only time can quench

    Only time can quench

    Allow me sip
In the midst of me, let me drown
    No longer of sorrow
But from my future time, let me borrow

    Cheers.🍺
    Mad write up Carl

  3. Thirst
    A desert then oasis
Refreshed by that patch as we latch on to hope
We shall be filled but till then, we bleed with ink to right the wrong, slowly but steadily sing a new song with the fist stroke of rain quenches the scourging sun's effect
    Hydration shall cause gyration

    1. For indeed, hydration shall cause gyration to the hearts of they that drink from goblets of peace to quench the scorches of wickedness of the rulers.

  4. Let me tell you a story
    A sought after story
Of how the caged bird sings
    With high pitched voice
    And unwaivering noise
Of all the things it would do
    If only it were free

    Come hear a story
    A true life story
    One I've heard
    A good number of times
    To numerous to recount
Of why the caged bird sings
    Bemoaning it's pains
    It's travails and grief
    And all in-between

    Take a seat and listen
    While I tell this story
    For there in lies
    The undisputed past
    The dreadful present
    And the delighting future
    Of our dear country
    The one we have
    And the one we seek
    The New Nigeria

    1. For the birds once in cages
      now lose and free
      to speak about its pains
      to the whole wide world
      to speak about a belief
      of a delightful future
      to speak in unity
      of a new Nigeria.

Thank you for your story Nenye.
